Campaign Overview

India. The land of 1.3 billion people, spread across 29 states together which speaks 22 major languages written in 13 different scripts, with over 720 dialects.  

Our cultures, our appearances, our customs are different. But on one fine day of August 15th, 1947, we put all these differences aside and declared to the world that we will be a single family which can manage and govern itself. It was easier said than done. So many people sacrificed their life, material ambitions for building this great nation called “India”.

It’s been 71 years since Independence. From eradicating polio to launching rockets to Mars, we’ve come a long way. However, when we look around, I’m sure you’d agree with me that there is so much more to go. We are still grappling with issues like Education, Development and Poverty. There is no one single silver bullet solution, but all these has a common root “Hunger”. Yes, you’ve heard it right. While the west is struggling with obesity, India houses the highest percentage of malnourished population of children in the world. Even today, there are children who starve to death. There is no bengal famine to blame, there is no churchil to point at. It’s just us. How can we expect a child to attend a school when he/she is burning with hunger? How can we expect the country to develop with our next generation unable to get it’s basic necessity in place?

There is still a hope. Many rays of hope in fact and one of them is referred as “Akshaya Patra”. With a noble vision “NO CHILD IN INDIA SHALL BE DEPRIVED OF EDUCATION, BECAUSE OF HUNGER” and ambitious mission of “TO FEED 5 MILLION CHILDREN BY 2020”, “Akshaya Patra” is known for its Transparency, Hygiene and Scale.

They provide fresh and nutritious meals to children on every single school day. They continuously leverage technology to multiply our reach and create a positive impact.
